Drew Hoschar is a drummer and composer hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, currently living in New York City. Drew was a seven-year member of the Tri-C JazzFest Academy in Cleveland, where he was instructed by local heroes such as Dominick Farinacci, Ernie Krivda, Aidan Plank, Anthony Taddeo, Chris Coles, Theron Brown, and others.

Drew performed for several years as a member of Dominick Farinacci’s Spirit of the Groove. Spirit of the Groove was an ensemble made up of the premier students at the Tri-C JazzFest Academy. The program culminated with a performance at Dizzy’s Club in May of 2022.

Drew is a recipient of both a merit award (2022) and honorable mention award (2023) from the National YoungArts Competition. 

Some of his biggest musical influences are from artists such as Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Bill Stewart, Brian Blade, Ben Wendel, Immanuel Wilkins, and Gerald Clayton.

Drew has studied extensively with Cleveland drummer and educator, Mark Gonder, and with New York City’s, Carmen Intorre, Jr.

Drew now attends the Manhattan School of Music in New York City under the mentorship of John Riley and Kendrick Scott, and studies privately with Ari Hoenig.
